Gainsborough Overview

Since 2000 Gainsborough has undergone major redevelopments and had an influx of money invested with plans in place for the next 5 and 10 years.

The River Trent runs through Gainsborough and the entire river frontage has received a full facelift, old mills have been converted in to flats and apartments with artworks on the riversides.

Gainsborough now boasts a Super Tesco’s and has recently had Marshalls Yard Shopping Precinct, which contains all the high street names, converted from the old factories that have retained their frontage due to it’s heritage site.

The town centre has been transformed to become open and spacious, making room for new developments and complexes such as the sports centre, nightclubs and opening in December 07 a new complex called Sands that will host Jazz nights, entertainment and Restaurant.

The council have 5 year plans in place for a Marina to be built at the riverside, which will include shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants. And in the next 10 years the council have outlined plans to double the population. This overhaul has created a huge demand for higher quality housing for professional people moving into Gainsborough from surrounding areas such as Lincoln, Newark & Nottingham.

All these redevelopments and council plans have transformed this small industrial working town into what is becoming a vibrant and upmarket town.
